Things your beard secretly collects during the day
Simon WyrembakWeโre not saying your beard is disgusting.
Weโre just saying it has a very busy life.
From your first coffee to the journey home, your beard comes into contact with more than you might think. It may still look respectable at 3pm โ but that doesnโt mean it feels or smells as fresh as it did that morning.
So, what has it been quietly collecting?
1. Food you thought you escaped
Toast crumbs. Egg. Milk foam. Sauce. Whatever was inside that lunch wrap.
You probably wiped your mouth and carried on. Unfortunately, your beard may have kept a souvenir.
Even when nothing is visibly stuck, oils and food smells can hang around. Your 1pm burger shouldnโt still be introducing itself during your 3pm meeting.
2. Coffee
Coffee has a special talent for ending up everywhere except your mouth.
A little foam on the moustache. A few drops underneath. The occasional takeaway-cup mishap while walking to work.
Add a couple more coffees, a commute and a full workday, and your beard might be feeling less than fresh.
3. Sweat and natural oils
Your face naturally produces oil throughout the day. Add warm weather, the gym, a rushed commute or time outdoors, and some of that sweat and oil ends up sitting in your beard too.
Itโs completely normal โ but it can leave your beard feeling heavy, stale or ready for a reset.
4. Whatever was on your hands
Think about how often you touch your beard without noticing.
While reading an email. Sitting in traffic. Thinking. Pretending to understand something in a meeting.
Every time you do, you can transfer oil, dirt and whatever else your hands have picked up. Your beard is basically the worldโs most masculine fidget toy.
5. Dust, smoke and the outside world
City air. Road dust. Public transport. Campfire smoke. Cooking smells. That bloke vaping directly in front of you.
Your beard is exposed to the same environment as the rest of you โ but gives smells and particles plenty of hair to cling to.
Itโs especially noticeable while travelling, camping or spending a long day away from home.
6. Yesterdayโs grooming products
Beard oil, balm and styling products are great โ but adding more product to a beard that already feels dirty doesnโt make it clean.
Sometimes it just means food smell, sweat and product buildup are now hanging out together.
Beard oil conditions your beard. It isnโt a replacement for cleansing it.
Your beard isnโt filthy. It just lives with you.
This isnโt about treating your beard like a biohazard or starting a complicated grooming ritual.
Your beard simply goes everywhere you do. It eats when you eat, sweats when you sweat and spends the day exposed to food, hands, air and smells.
A proper beard wash handles the deeper clean. But during the day, a full wash isnโt always possible.
Use OUD Beard Cleansing Wipes when things get messy โ after lunch, on a flight or at the campsite.
Use WOODY No-Rinse Beard Cleansing Spray when your beard simply needs a quick refresh โ before a meeting, after the gym or between plans.
No sink. No shower. No full grooming production.
Because your beard is going to collect things.
It just doesnโt need to keep them.
Keep it fresh you Beardos!
Cheers,ย
Simon
